In early March, Manta Watch NZ founder Lydia had the privilege of introducing Jono Ridler (Ultra-marathon Swimmer and Ocean Swim Ambassador), to the Hauraki Gulf’s oceanic manta rays.
Later this month (April 25th onwards), Jono is going to attempt a world record 100km swim in 35 hours, from Aotea Great Barrier Island, past Hauturu-o-Toi Little Barrier Island and around to Takapuna Beach!
Jono has set this challenge to raise awareness about the declining state of the Haruaki Gulf’s ecosystems and associated wildlife. MWNZ fully support his mahi!
